At the very inception, as babies, we receive sensory inputs into our mind through visual (sight), auditory (hearing), tactile (touch), gustatory (taste) and olfactory (smell) modes and we attempt to make sense of the world through a process called perception. As we grow up the brain accumulates immense past information and archives it in memory. New sensory inputs at each stage as we experience life are now compared with this past information and then we perceive the world. Curiously though, now it isn’t called perception anymore but ‘Apperception’ a term lent by psychology that denotes a mental process by which a person makes sense of an idea by assimilating it to the body of ideas he/she already possesses. New experience is assimilated based upon the residue of past experience to form a new whole. Even a scientific proposition is interpreted in the light of a phenomena already analysed and classified for example if a new chemical element is discovered, it is compared with Mendeleev’s periodic table and positioned as per its atomic number in the new table. The entire intelligence of human beings is consciously or unconsciously, a process of ‘Apperception’. These subtleties of the mind are of immense interest to Headstride.
HEADSTRIDE PROGRAM APPROACH
The programs are designed using a mixture of Psychotherapy & Psychology theories, suppositions and hypothesis as well as modern management percepts. At times it challenges conventional beliefs, expresses strictures over established rituals and critiques thoughts all done with the objective to veer towards chiselling off the behavioural thinking traps, heighten awareness and instil hope & belief in one’s pursuits. To exploit the transformative nature of the program’s design, the participant has to be coachable and invalidate themselves for the duration of the program.
